Edward Loar fought through strong winds to claim the Web.com Tour Chitimacha Louisiana Open on Sunday in Broussard with a final round score of 2-under-par 69. Loar, a left-hander, was 17-under 267 for the tournament and finished two strokes ahead of second-place Morgan Hoffman, who shot a 62 on Saturday.
Broussard, La. – Lefty Edward Loar of Dallas fired a 7-under 64 Saturday and moved into the lead after 54 holes of the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. Loar’s 15-under 198 total is one better than Troy Merritt (66) and two in front of Morgan Hoffmann, who torched Le Triomphe Country Club with a 9-under 62.
Edward Loar was born on November 15, 1977 in Dallas, TX. He grew up in Rockwall, TX and graduated high school in 1996. While there he won 4 district titles, 3 regional titles, and helped lead his team to a state title in 1996. He also won the individual title in a playoff that year. He attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater from 1996-2000 graduating with a BA in Business and a minor in Finance. Edward was a 4 time All American and part of the 2000 NCAA Championship team. He recorded 5 collegiate victories and played on the 1998 Palmer Cup team. Loar also won 4 Amateur tournaments including back to back wins at the Sunnehanna Amateur and was a member of the 1999 Walker Cup Team. Edward turned professional in 2000 and has had various stops around the globe. He spent the bulk of 5 years on the Asian Tour capturing the 2003 Thailand Open and the 2004 Kolon Korean Open.
